The Prodigal son
Inspired by Jesus’ parable of the prodigal son in Luke 15:11–32, this painting tells astory of repentance, mercy, and the overwhelming love of a Father.
On the blue vase, a man humbly returns to his father, while his father’s arms are stretched wide to receive him. The scene captures the heart of the parable: the son comes home expecting shame, but instead finds compassion, celebration, and love.
The ring on the table represents the status and inheritance given to the returning son—the gift of being welcomed back not as a servant, but as a beloved child. In Christ, we are offered this same gift: adoption as heirs.
Our past does not make us unworthy of coming home. When we turn toward Christ, He does not meet us with reluctance or rejection. He welcomes us with joy.
God loves us because He made us, and He desires for us to come to Him. Like the father in the parable, His arms are open wide.
